UP Furniture is honored to be involved in the project at the IBM Shanghai Research Center. Initially, we thought IBM had entirely transformed into ThinkPad, but through this project, we have rediscovered IBM; it’s not just history—it continues to make history.
entrance
The entrance is modern and inviting, featuring a reception desk crafted from a clever combination of light walnut and black-and-white slate. The prominent IBM logo welcomes visitors. Wooden decorative panels adorn the entrance walls, striking a balance between solemnity and warmth.
The interior space is characterized by a sleek gray tone, and the walls of the internal corridors prominently feature the word “think.”
reception area
Inside the IBM China Research Institute, the guest reception area is adorned with high-tech art frames, complemented by two striking geometric reception sofas from UP Furniture. The sofas feature vibrant colors in shades of orange, gray, and yellow, accompanied by white side tables.
The floor has a white star pattern, symbolizing the extension of technology. The overall space exudes a strong sense of modernity.
The warm wood-toned wall decorations complement each other harmoniously.
public open interaction space
Under the embracing branches of the tree, a modular sofa with a curved design, reminiscent of the tree’s roots, provides a welcoming seating arrangement. The combination of metal-framed chairs with plastic backs and square negotiation tables is strategically placed beneath the tree, creating a harmonious and organized resting space.
In an open and communicative space, the strategically arranged high-back sofas offer a sense of privacy. Cleverly designed ottomans with wheels add a playful and dynamic element to the layout.

The employee work area features an open layout and is equipped with height-adjustable office furniture systems. The furniture is elegantly coordinated in white to match the ceiling, with subtle accents of gray and muted green on the desktop screens, adding a touch of sophistication and style.
